OUR SOLID ANCHOR

A while ago I was opportune to watch a ship being moored, the ship swayed to and fro up until the anchor was set in place after which there came that calmness associated with a ship well anchored.

As I observed the entire process, I couldn’t but ponder on how our lives could benefit from the calmness, stability and confidence that would come from a soul anchored on the Solid Rock which is Christ.
While staring at that ship the Spirit dropped a song in my spirit –
“Tis’ my lot to lean upon the Rock
To lay my strength on that which never fails.
I’ll always crave for my Anchor that’s so sure
My Solid Rock, which makes me bold”

Having Christ as our sure anchor insulates us from the instability that comes naturally with the world and helps us keep our focus on what truly matters in our lives.
Some keys to having a secure connection to our Solid Rock:

  1. You must be connected to Christ by dwelling and meditating daily in His word
  2. An adequate connection with Christ can only come by daily communion in the place of prayer
  3. Neglect not the gathering of the brethren – your active participation and attendance in your local bible believing church goes a long way to re-fire and refuel you to keep striving for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ
  4. Create an atmosphere of worship all around you – your mobile devices and car can be used to glorify God by loading them up with songs of praise and worship and spirit filled messages
  5. Evaluate the friends and associations you keep – Any association or friendship that is not leading you towards Christ is most likely leading you away from Christ

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 6: 19,20).
Beloved, whatever you do, make sure that you are hooked up to the greatest anchor
