In 200 meters, take the next exit to the right towards…we heard that familiar voice from good old Google maps directing us towards where ought to be the fastest route to our destination. But then we rationalized where that route will take us through, and in our analysis we felt that Google maps was finally wrong this time around, surely that route couldn’t be the fastest route to our destination, so we disobeyed and kept going straight ahead, quite swiftly…until we met the traffic jam! And then we spent the next two hours enduring the pains of not heeding to the instructions we had previously received
Isn’t this similar to what we experience in our walk with God? When we receive instructions and directions from God only to go into the analysis mode and ultimately determine that we know better? Just like the GPS, God sees the end from the beginning and seeks to channel our lives in a direction that would avert future hold ups. From our limited human perspective, those directions might seem out of place or even outright wrong. However disregarding God’s instruction always leads to frustration.
We must learn to consciously heed God’s infallible directions and instructions. Some scriptures quickly come to mind:
“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16 KJV).
Also, in Jeremiah 31:9 (KJV), “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.”
God is ever faithful! We must trust in His love and faithfulness toward us and know for sure that as long as we are in tune with Him, we are guaranteed of the benefits of divine instructions if and only if we obey.
Are there things in your life for which you require God’s directions? Or perhaps you have already received directions but like the case with the GPS you are in the process of modifying God’s directions?
How may we be praying for you?
God’s directions are always accurate and on time!
